What a way to bring in July! Being from Texas, I know all about thunderstorms and lightening not to mention driving in rain so heavy you can barely see in front of your headlights. But I'd never experienced conditions like that of the last days of June. So, in the midst of the rain, I decided to go out and see what the fuss was...and since I was going out, why not bring my camera?
Here are some shots during the storm and the day after:
It was pitch black dark, at 10:19pm at night when the above shots were taken. I played around with Aperture and Shutter Speed hence the lightness of the photos. The fountain is in the back circle of the building and with the lightening, rain and wind it made an eerie sight.
Well, someone should have yelled, "Timber!" because part of the tree went down. I feel horrible for the condo owners who lived there. It must have given them quite a fright.
And the tree that kept the lights out for days...

Saturday after Thanksgiving...Picnic on the National Mall
It was a nice day, hence the need to be out and enjoy the weather while it lasts. So, we headed out to the National Mall to check out some museums. This evolved into a picnic in the Sculpture Garden. It was a simple menu of leftovers transformed: Turkey and Dressing Sandwiches, Chocolate Cake and Bottled Water. Oh, and there was good conversation and ribbing as well. It was a great time and a great memory.

Be Thankful
It was a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. Holidays are my favorite time of the year, especially when it can be spent with others. This year we had the pleasure of having one of Robert's friends visit for Thanksgiving. There was food, football (Cheers for the Cowboy's win!) and walking around monuments.
